holer
An adulterer; libertine (one who is unconstrained by convention or morality).
Should I laugh that this word comes from the French holier?

Where do I learn more about the meaning of my name?
Thanking for sharing. You explained so much ....
Laura Scroggins!
That's awesome! I did a quick google search and you might want to check out this link: http://users.erols.com/scroggjm/scrogginsdata/origins.htm
As to how scroggins became a an expression of astonishment, I've found little information. I did find one item that said scroggins was Scottish or English meaning unexplained.
Unexplained because its origins were not included or known, I believe is what that meant. On Ancestry.com it says unexplained, contrary to if you search for Smith. Smith offers a brief history of how it came to be. I think your use of it, however, is comical and apropos. :)
Thanks for the comments and thanks for the info!
